Oct. 9, 2017 IRVING, Texas - Baylor volleyball's Hannah Lockin was named the Big 12 Freshman of the Week, announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.
This is the fifth weekly honor for the Bears this season and second for the freshman setter (Sept. 25). Lockin is the first Baylor player to record multiple rookie or freshman weekly honors in their first season in Waco.
Lockin led Baylor to a 2-0 week, which included a 3-0 upset over No. 20 Iowa State in Ames, Iowa last Wednesday and a sweep of West Virginia in Waco on Saturday.
In the Bears' first road victory over a ranked opponent since 2011, Lockin guided BU to a .271 hitting clip and had 37 assists and 11 digs for her seventh career double-double.
The Des Moines, Iowa native continues to lead the conference during Big 12 action with 12.30 assists per set and has 793 total assists as a freshman through 19 games.
Lockin earns her third honor of the season as she was also named the Baylor Invitational's Best Setter on Aug. 27.
No. 25 Baylor (15-4, 5-1 Big 12) continues Big 12 play against Kansas State Saturday night at 7 p.m. CT at Ahearn Fieldhouse in Manhattan, Kan.
