No. 18 VB Closes Out Non-Conference Slate Against UTEP

The Bears and Miners meet for the first time in the McGuyre Era
WACO, Texas – Baylor volleyball will close out its non-conference schedule Friday night when the Bears host UTEP at 7 p.m. at the Ferrell Center as part of the Baylor Classic.
The Bears enter Friday's finale at 7-2 on the season after a 3-1 victory over Incarnate Word Wednesday night. Baylor has now won 13-straight matches in the Baylor Classic and is 50-6 all-time in the event.
With Big 12 matches in view, freshman Mya Hemmer said the Bears are eager to carry the progress they've made into league play.
"Yeah, it's super exciting, especially a first for myself and some of the other girls on the team, getting that first taste of conference play. I'm really excited for that," Hemmer said. "I'm really excited to see how well we'll compete with our defense. Coach [McGuyre] mentioned, we're getting some really good touches, which we're seeing in practice as well, so I'm looking forward to watching that continue, while we continue to improve as a team."
UTEP enters the Baylor Classic following a 3-1 loss at No. 13 TCU in Fort Worth. The Miners will open their portion of the tournament Thursday night against Incarnate Word at 7 p.m. at the Ferrell Center before facing the Bears Friday.
Baylor has been led offensively by sophomore Ksenia Rakhmanchik, who enters Friday riding an 18-match streak with double-digit kills. She reached another career milestone Wednesday against UIW, surpassing 500 career kills and finishing with 507, while hitting a career-best .435.
Working back from offseason surgery, Bailey Warren had her best performance of the season against the Cardinals, leading the Bears with 14 kills and 17.5 points. Those 14 kills were her most since notching 27 in a win over BYU last season.
Morgan Madison is coming off a season-high 27 digs against UIW, while Isabela Haggard tied her career high with five blocks. Jules Hernandez and Tehani Ulufatu also scratched double-digit digs, with 10 a piece.
