BAYLOR POSTGAME QUOTES

Baylor Head Coach Scott Drew

Opening Statementà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"I thought the first five minutes we started out slow, credit to Texas for getting off to a good start. I thought the last five minutes we didn't execute like we'd like to. But the 30 minutes in between, I thought we really played a great game. Obviously, Mott (Johnathan Motley) statistically had a whale of a game. His teammates did a great job of getting the ball where he could be successful. We were going to sit him out, but his teammates said no we need to leave him in, so that shows their love for him. Nuni (Omot) obviously stepped up. It takes a team to win. You're always going to have different people throughout the year step up and tonight was his night to step up and he really did a great job for us."

On his team having multiple scoring options...
"That's the great thing about our team. I think everyone on our team is capable of having big nights and we've had that. There's games we have won because our bench guys have all stepped up at different times. That's what makes us a good team. It's a team. It's hard to guard when you don't know who is going to be hot. You credit the guys when they're not hot, they're cheering on the guys that are. The guys that are hot are doing a great job."

On rebounding from the loss to West Virginia...
"I think that's why our team is successful. We have great upperclassmen that understand the short memory mentality in the Big 12. No win can be too high, because then you're going to lose the next one; and no loss you can be too down, otherwise then you're going to lose the next one. In the Big 12 you're going to have both. No one has gone undefeated in a long time. You just got to be able to move on to the next game.

Junior Forward Johnathan Motley

On how he played tonight...
"I just wanted to come back and make sure I played a better game than the last two I played. I wasn't too happy with myself. I tried to do everything I could to be better than those games and just help my team win."

On how it felt to play like that tonight...
"It's kind of hard to explain like you don't really remember what you do you're just kind of out there. You're just going through it like I can't tell you the moves I make like I literally can't. I forgot. It just kind of goes away. It's just a crazy rhythm you get as a basketball player. Just one of those things you can't explain."

Junior Forward Nuni Omot

On his attitude during the gameà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"When I got in I just told myself that I had to play as hard as possible. My teammates obviously did a good job of finding me and I was in the right spots so I had to reward them by finishing when I got the ball."

On how sitting out motivated himà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"It's starting to come together you know I've been practicing and I had to sit out so I wasn't practicing as much and getting reps. Now I'm starting to get more reps, which is starting to help me get the flow and seeing what it's like when I'm actually playing in the actual game."

On adjusting to the Texas bigsà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"Coach told us we would have to front them because they would try to duck us and would go underneath the basket so we would have to beat them to the basket before they beat us."

TEXAS POSTGAME QUOTES

Texas Head Coach Shaka Smart

On being afraid of foul troubleà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"By that point in the game, we did not do a good job fighting off the offensive rebounders. I thought our guys started the game and with the tally they had they were connected. The way they tried to guard was very, very good. I have to watch the tape, but there was a point about six to eight minutes left where you could just feel our defensive energy was not as good. You know the timeouts were something we made the guys very aware of, but we didn't do a good job getting back to the level of energy and fight we had to start the game. I think some of that had to do with some plays on offense not going our way, but you go on the road and try to beat the No. 6 team in the country and you're leading for the majority of the first half, you can't worry about that stuff."

On Johnathan Motley's performanceà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"Motley's really good. The thing that he keeps getting better with is his motor. That's how he got a lot of those rebounds. He just stayed with them, kept fighting, went after them. Anytime you get 30 and 20, I don't care where it is or who you are, you just don't see that very often."

On Nuni Omot's performanceà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"He was very good. I thought, again when the game shifted about three quarters of the way through the first half there was an energy shift. That's what led to Baylor's run. I think he was a big part of that for them throughout the game. He was a guy we talked about. He was on the scouting report. He's just had some really good moments for them, but tonight he really played well."

On Baylor's run tying in to the lack of UT 3-point shotsà ¢Ã¢' ¬ ¦
"It's certainly not an excuse. In the first half, we're up two, up four, tied, we're down a few. It's anybody's game, keep playing. I think that requires a level of connectivity as a team and the ability to move on from the last play, that I thought our guys started the game with, but we obviously did not sustain throughout the game."
