EUGENE, Ore. -> Former Baylor track and field sprinter Tiffany Townsend finished seventh in the final of the 200 meters at the U.S. Olympic Trials Sunday at Hayward Field.
The Killeen, Texas, native got off to a slow start and never was able to get back into the race as she had the second slowest reaction time in the field (.230) to clock a time of 22.80.
Townsend had advanced to the final by being one of two time qualifiers. She placed third in her heat with a time of 22.79, which was seventh-best on the day.
OTHER NOTABLES
- Townsend made the finals in both the 100 and 200-meter events at the U.S. Olympic Trials. She was the lone Bear or former Bear to compete in two events at the meet.
WHAT'S NEXT
Townsend was the last Bear in action at the U.S. Olympic Trials. Next week, current Bears Taylor Bennett and Wil London along with three other BU signees will take part in the IAAF World U20 Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland, which run July 19-24.
