THE RUNDOWN
OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. â '¬" Baylor men's golf is tied for sixth place after Friday's first round of play at the Fighting Illini Invitational. The Bears shot 7-over-par 287, placing them just five strokes back of the top three entering Saturday's second round at Olympia Fields Country Club.
Baylor has two players in the top 15 individually. Senior Andreas Gjesteby and freshman Braden Bailey are tied for 15th place after carding even-par 70s. Freshman Garrett May is tied for 33rd at 3-over 70, followed by junior Hunter Shattuck, who is tied for 41st at 4-over 74. Frederik Andersen shot 77 and is tied for 67th place.
Florida State (-7) leads the tournament by eight strokes. Stanford (+1) is second, followed by Oklahoma State (+2) and Illinois (+2) tied for third. Arizona State (+5) is fifth, and Texas Tech (+7) is tied with Baylor in sixth place.
Play was suspended due to weather with one group left on the course, and those three players will complete their rounds at 8 a.m. CT Saturday. Andersen will have Baylor's first second-round tee time at 9:20 a.m., and he'll be followed in nine-minute intervals by Shattuck, May, Bailey and Gjesteby, respectively.

• Three Big 12 Conference teams are in the field, with Baylor and Tech tied for sixth at 7-over 287 and Texas in 11th after a 10-over 290.
