Men's Tennis Dominates Seminole State College, 7-0

WACO, Texas -
Highlighted by Mate Zsiga's 100th-career singles win, the second-ranked Baylor men's tennis team blanked Seminole State College, 7-0, Tuesday at the Hurd Tennis Center.

The win raised BU's record to 17-3 overall and 10-1 at home, while Seminole State fell to 13-8 overall.

The 117th-ranked Zsiga was the first Bear to finish in singles as he recorded a 6-0, 6-0 triumph over Nick Bell at the No. 1 spot in the lineup. The senior from Szeged, Hungary holds a career singles record of 100-36. He is the ninth player in program history to tally 100 singles wins and the first since Denes Lukacs and Dominik Mueller accomplished the feat in 2010. Zsiga now stands alone in ninth on the BU career wins list and only one win behind Michal Kokta.

Zsiga's singles win propelled the Bears to a 2-0 lead in the match, after they had swept doubles action.

In doubles, Vince Schneider and Felipe Rios picked up a 6-0 shutout victory on court three, before the 54th-ranked tandem of Julian Lenz and Diego Galeano recorded a 6-1 triumph at the No. 2 spot. With the point clinched, No. 51 Zsiga and Tony Lupieri tallied a 7-6(2) win on court 1.

After Zsiga's singles victory, Rios was the next Bear to finish as he downed Kennan Dishman, 6-0, 6-1, at the bottom of the lineup.

To clinch the match, Galeano bested Ian Sioux, 6-1, 6-0, at the No. 4 spot.

With the match clinched, the 61st-ranked Max Tchoutakian (6-1, 6-0), top-ranked Julian Lenz (6-0, 6-2) and No. 31 Tony Lupieri (6-1, 6-4) all recorded straight sets wins.
