THE RUNDOWN
SAN ANTONIO, Texas -
The Baylor women's golf team won its first-ever conference title by shooting 3-over-par 867 in the Big 12 Conference Championship at The Dominion Country Club. BU entered the final round with a 10-stroke lead and shot 9-over-par 293 on Sunday, claiming the tournament championship by 12 strokes.

The 54-hole total of 867 was Baylor's best ever at a Big 12 Championship and the second-lowest 54-hole score in Big 12 Championship history, trailing only the 861 shot by Oklahoma in 2014. Baylor's first-round score of 282 was the lowest first round score in Big 12 Championship history, and BU set the event's 36-hole record at 573.

Laura Lonardi in second place after shooting 2-under 70 in the third round for an overall score of 4-under 212. Her score of 4-under 212 tied Oklahoma State's Kenzie Neisen, but Lonardi lost to Neisen on the second hole in a sudden death playoff for the individual Big 12 Championship title.

Dylan Kim finished in a tie for fifth place with an overall score of 1-over 217 after shooting 1-over 73 in the third round. Hayley Davis shot 3-over 75 to finish in a tie for 10th place with an overall score of 4-over 220. Giovana Maymon tied for 21st place with an overall score of 7-over 223 after shooting 4-over 76 in the final round, and Lauren Whyte finished in a tie for 28th place with an overall score of 12-over 228 after shooting 6-over 78 in the third round.

Lonardi, Davis and Kim were all named to the All-Tournament team, tying Baylor's record with three players selected. BU also had three All-Tournament honorees in 2005 with Josefin Svenningsson, Anna Rehnholm and Sian Reddick.

TOP QUOTE
"I think everybody's super excited," head coach Jay Goble said. "It means a lot to our team and our program. It shows Baylor is well rounded and great at all sports. We've been so close the last couple of years, just knocking on the door. The first championship is a lot of fun. There's a lot of hard work that goes into the first one. The girls were just in control all week. They came out and led from start to finish. I had a great feeling from the first day. I'm especially proud of Laura, because this is something she's been working really hard on - playing well when the pressure's on and staying in the present. She hit every shot with conviction and did an excellent job of getting her job done every day."
