THE RUNDOWN
WACO, Texas - Baylor (17-24, 6-10) lost a 5-3 decision to Kansas State (18-22, 5-11) Saturday evening at Baylor Ballpark. The Wildcats used a run in each of the last two innings to sneak past the Bears.
The Bears tied the game twice but were never able to take a lead. After KSU scored a run in the third on a walk, hit and ground out, BU countered with a run in the bottom half thanks to good base running by Logan Brown. Following his one-out single, he moved to second and third on consecutive errant pickoff throws, and then scored on a wild pitch.
KSU responded right away in the fourth with a two-out RBI double by Alex Bee. The Wildcats added another run in the sixth on two hits and a sacrifice fly.
However, the Bears battled back again. In the bottom of the sixth, Brown led off with a single. An out later, Adam Toth scored him on a triple. Duncan Wendel then drove in Toth on a two-out single up the middle to tie the game, 3-3.
Unfortunately, the BU bullpen wasn't able to hang on like it did to finish the suspended Friday night game earlier in the day with a win. In the eighth off Joe Kirkland, a two-out single and HBP led to Danny Krause's go-ahead RBI single. In the ninth off Kody Hessemer, Bee struck again with an RBI single as three of the first four Wildcats reached base via hits.
BU had a chance in the ninth as Wendel led off with a single and Sabatini drew a two-out walk, but both runners were left aboard.
KSU reliever Corey Fischer (4-3) earned the win by allowing no runs on one hit and one walk with two strikeouts in 3.1 innings. Kirkland (3-2) took the loss after giving up a run on four hits with three strikeouts in two innings.

QUOTE OF THE GAME
"This was the best atmosphere we've had in quite a long time and it was the best our guys have played in quite a long time. The dugout was in it and the guys were behind each other, pulling for each other. We have to be able to play together and learn how to create our own energy, and I hope we are learning. We have quite a few young guys that will be here for a few more years and I hope this whole experience is building something in them." - Baylor head coach Steve Smith
