WACO, Texas - The eighth-ranked Baylor women's tennis team wraps up Big 12 and regular season play this weekend as No. 72 Kansas and Kansas State come to town. Baylor will face the Jayhawks on Friday at 5 p.m. and the Wildcats on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Hurd Tennis Center.

"I know our players are motivated to finish the regular season strong," head coach Joey Scrivano said. "For us, it's all about playing in the present, trusting the process and focusing on the things that we can control. When we do that we play very well and the result takes care of itself."

BU (20-6, 6-1) is coming off a 4-0 victory over No. 36 Texas at home Saturday. Baylor's lone loss in conference play came on the road at No. 18 Texas Tech. The Bears and Red Raiders both have one loss in Big 12 play. If BU were to win both matches over the weekend, the Bears would clinch at least a share of the Big 12 regular season title.

Baylor boasts five players ranked in singles. Ema Burgic (12-4) leads the way at No. 26. She is followed closely by No. 33 Blair Shankle (16-2), Kiah Generette (15-5) at No. 73, Leolia JeanJean (12-2) at No. 104 and finally Rachael James-Baker (7-7) at No. 118. BU also has the No. 9 ranked doubles team in Burgic and Shankle, who are 8-4 in dual-match play. Kelley Anderson and JeanJean (5-2) round out the rankings for the Lady Bears at No. 43.

Kansas comes to Waco with an 8-12 record overall (4-3 Big 12) and tied for the fifth spot in the Big 12 standings. The Jayhawks are coming off a 4-3 road win over No. 39 Oklahoma. They also defeated Kansas State 4-0 before falling to No. 10 Oklahoma State 4-0 on the road in Stillwater, Okla.

BU owns a 20-4 all-time record over Kansas, including 15 straight victories under Scrivano. Last season, the Lady Bears knocked Kansas out of the Big 12 tournament and ended their season with a 4-0 victory.

Kansas State will play Texas in Austin on Friday before making the trip to Waco Sunday. The Wildcats bring an 8-14 (1-6 Big 12) record into the weekend. They defeated West Virginia 4-0 for their sole conference victory. More recently, they suffered a 4-2 defeat at Oklahoma and a 4-0 shutout at Oklahoma State last weekend. The Wildcats are led in singles play this season by sophomores Palma Juhasz (17-11) and Iva Bago (16-12). In doubles, the tandem of Juhasz and Carolina Costamagna (7-3) is ranked No. 81.

BU leads the all-time series against Kansas State 17-4, including a 5-1 victory last season.

"KU is a team on the rise and their results are showing that," Scrivano said. "K-State is a dangerous team with good talent. We are not taking either one of these teams lightly."

Live scoring, a live blog and live video of each match will be available on BaylorBears.com with a full recap to follow each match.

An hour before each match, another session of the Baylor Cub Tennis program will be held.
