Men's Golf in 10th at Querencia Cabo Collegiate

THE RUNDOWN
SAN ANTONIO, Texas -
The No. 6-ranked Baylor men's golf team shot 4-over-par 288 in Sunday's opening round of Querencia Cabo Collegiate to finish the day in 10th place, three strokes out of the top five.

The Bears are one stroke behind eighth place teams Mississippi (+3) and Vanderbilt (+3). Lamar is in seventh place at 2-over-par 286, while Wake Forest and Houston are in a tie for fifth place at 1-over-par 285. Stanford and Washington finished the day in a tie for third place at 2-under-par 282. South Florida shot 8-under 276 in the opening round to finish the day in second place, and Florida State leads the field after posting an opening round of 9-under 275.

Senior Kyle Jones led the Bears shooting 2-under 69 to finish the day in a tie for seventh place individually. Filippo Zucchetti also finished the day among the top 25 individuals after posting an opening round 1-over par 72.

Andreas Gjesteby shot 2-over 73 and is in a tie for 36th place. Frederik Andersen is one stroke behind Gjesteby in a tie for 47th place at 3-over 74, and Mikkel Bjerch-Andresen finished the day in a tie for 69th place at 12-over.

HIGHLIGHTS
? Zucchetti was one of six players in the 70-player field to birdie the 11th hole.
? Baylor finished the day in second place in par-3 scoring average at 3.10.
? Zucchetti is in second place in par-3 scoring and par-5 scoring average at 2.75 and 4.33, respectively.
? Jones and Gjesteby both birdied hole No. 14, accounting for two of the 10 birdies made on the hole in the opening round.
