WACO, Texas - The eighth-ranked Baylor women's tennis team will return home to host No. 14 Miami Tuesday at noon at the Hurd Tennis Center.
After two 4-0 Big 12 road shutouts over No. 10 Oklahoma State Friday and No. 23 Oklahoma on Sunday, Baylor (14-3) will resume its non-conference slate with the tilt against Miami (9-2).
It is slated to be Baylor's first match outside in Waco, after starting the year 9-1 at home in the friendly confines of the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center.
Baylor boasts four players ranked in singles. Ema Burgic (9-3) leads the way at No. 22. She is followed closely by No. 31 Blair Shankle (9-1), Kiah Generette (9-2) at No. 75 and finally No. 82 Rachel James-Baker (6-4). BU also has the No. 10 ranked doubles team in Burgic and Shankle, who are 8-2 in dual-match play.
Miami has won three straight road matches and is 4-2 overall away from home this season. The Hurricanes knocked off No. 51 Georgia Tech, 6-1, Sunday in their last match out.
Miami has five ranked singles players in No. 7 Stephanie Wagner, No. 37 Sinead Lohan, No. 63 Clementina Riobueno, No. 108 Lina Lileikite and No. 112 Wendy Zhang. The Hurricanes also boast two ranked doubles pairings in No. 8 Lileikite and Wagner, along with 19th-ranked Riobueno and Monique Albuquerque.
BU trails the all-time series against Miami, 7-5, and 6-4 under Scrivano. In the last meeting, Baylor dropped a 4-0 decision at Miami on March 15, 2014.
The first 150 fans in attendance at the match will receive a free St. Patrick's Day shirt.
