THE RUNDOWN
Baylor Acrobatics & Tumbling (2-0) never lost its lead during its season opening tri-meet victory over the Bobcats of Quinnipiac and the Falcons of Concordia University Wisconsin at the Ferrell Center, Saturday evening.
The Bears took control of the meet early on in the Compulsory Event with a 38.85, followed by the Bobcats' 37.15 and then the Falcons' 26.80. Baylor extended its lead in the Acro Event to 68.75 while Quinnipiac remained in second with 66.26 and CUW in third with 52.50. In the final event before the half, Pyramid, the Bears stayed strong with a score of 96.95, followed by the Bobcats' 94.06 and the Falcons' 74.70.
After the half, the Toss Event proved to be a challenge for the Bears. BU held onto its lead with 124.00, while Quinnipiac closed the gap 122.36 and CUW remained in third with 98.20. Baylor dominated the Tumbling Event with a 178.375 as the standings stayed the same: Quinnipiac with 171.11 then CUW with 137.20.
In the final event of the meet, the Team Routine, the Bears finished off the meet with a final score of 262.405. Quinnipiac finished second with a 253.590, and Concordia University Wisconsin placed third in the tri-meet with a 212.34.
HIGHLIGHTS
? The Bears had their first perfect 10 of the night in the Compulsory Event's Pyramid Heat.
? The team of Toni Bronisevsky, Ally Cheatham, Molly Gibbons and Kiara Nowlin scored the second perfect 10 of the meet in the Acro Event's Heat 2.
? The team of Danielle Hardman, Courtney Pate, Devyn White, Bresha Pierce and Kiara Nowlin received the final 10 of the night in Heat 3 of the Acro Event.
? Kiara Nowlin posted the highest score in the Tumbling Event in the Six Element with a 9.9.
? The Bears took all events except for the Toss Event where they finished second.

Baylor's three perfect 10s from the Compulsory and Acro Events are a program-high.

"I was so proud of the Compulsory Acro. Our Compulsory tumbling score was ridiculously high although I think we deserved it. Our girls really answered on that. Just getting in the nines is a big deal for that heat," said head coach Felecia Mulkey. "All of our Acro heats were impressive. Some of those were put together just this week. Their mentality has changed so much in the past two weeks. That's what it came down to when we had a Pyramid heat not go the way we wanted. Being able to come back and answer that was huge for this team."
