THE RUNDOWN
FULLERTON, Calif. - No. 25 Baylor (6-5) lost the finale to Cal State Fullerton (5-5) 7-6 on Saturday afternoon at Goodwin Field as the Titans completed the weekend series sweep.
Much like the second game yesterday, the Bears jumped out to a quick lead. Following a Logan Brown leadoff walk and Aaron Dodson single, Cameron Miller drove in Brown on a single and Kameron Esthay plated Dodson with a single for a 2-0 lead.
Fullerton countered in the second with three runs. BU starter Ryan Smith cruised through the first but then had an HBP and two-out walk. Following a wild pitch to put both runners in scoring position, A.J. Kennedy hit a two-run single and Smith walked the next batter. After a mound visit, Smith left the game due to injury and Austin Stone took over in a tough situation. Stone walked his first batter, let a run score on a wild pitch before walking the next batter and got out of the inning thanks to a diving play at second by Steve McLean.
The Bears answered right away with a two-run homer by Esthay in the third to take a 4-3 lead. BU then added two more runs in the fifth on a two-out single by Justin Arrington for a 6-3 lead.
However, the Titans chipped away at the lead with two runs on an HBP, triple and sac fly in the bottom of the fifth.
In the seventh with Troy Montemayor taking over for Baylor on the mound, CSUF took the lead after a walk, triple and single by Josh Estill. The Bears best chance the rest of the way was in the eighth after a Brown two-out double but he was left stranded.
Titan reliever Willie Kuhl (1-0) earned the win with 1.1 innings of perfect relief and one strikeout while Tyler Pietzmeier picked up his third save after allowing one hit with four strikeouts in 1.2 innings. Montemayor (0-2) took the loss, surrendering two runs on four hits and a walk with three strikeouts in two innings.

QUOTE OF THE GAME
"It's a tough game to lose when you do so much offensively like that and it's a one-run game. In a one-run game, you can look back at a lot of different things. On the offensive side it was a good day against a good Fullerton staff." - Baylor head coach Steve Smith
