
Acrobatics & Tumbling Inks Eight

WACO, Texas - Baylor's Acrobatics & Tumbling team signed eight student-athletes to National Letters of Intent during the early signing period in November. The freshman class of 2016-2017 is second-year head coach Felecia Mulkey's second signing class.
"We are excited about this new signing class. It is a well-rounded group that brings a variety of backgrounds that will contribute to different positions and events for us," Mulkey said. "This class features athletes from artistic gymnastics, competitive cheer, trampoline and tumbling, Power Team Gym as well as track and field."
The eight signees will replace the seven influential seniors the Bears will lose to graduation in May 2016. The signees will join 34 returning athletes for the 2017 team in the fall.
Alexsis (Lexie) Amrhein
From Scottsburg, Ind. ... Senior at Plano West High School ... Trained in artistic gymnastics at World Olympic Gymnastics Academy ... Was the 2011 western bars champion and 2014 level 10 regional qualifier ... Involved in varsity cheerleader and PALS peer leadership.
"Lexie is a dynamic tumbler. Her experience at the top position will serve us in acro, toss, pyramid and team events," said coach Mulkey.
Mary Berdis
From Winter Haven, Fla. ... Senior at Winter Haven High School ... Trains at Elite World Gymnastics ... Qualified for World Age Group Gymnastics championships in Denmark ... Three-time Polk County diving champion.
"Mary is a powerful tumbler with great lines that will score well in our sport," said coach Mulkey.
Morgan Bergquist
From Colorado Springs, Colo. ... Senior at Pine Creek High School ... Helped cheer team to Grand Championship at NCA Championships.
"Morgan is an amazing tumbler with numerous passes in her arsenal. She has the potential to compete in several events," said coach Mulkey.
Brittany Bowles
From Houston, Texas ... Senior at St. John XXIII High School ... 4A State champion in long jump ... 4a State runner up in 300-meter hurdles ... Third place in 50 freestyle at TAPPS State Swimming Championships.
"Brittany is an accomplished gymnast and track and field athlete. Her strength and body control will make her a valuable asset within to our program," said coach Mulkey.
Jazmine (Jazzy) Hall
From Keller, Texas ... Senior at Byron Nelson High School ... Competes with Cheer Athletics Cheetahs.
"Jazzy is a versatile athlete. She can base, top or mid-level and also brings several high scoring tumbling passes to the table," said coach Mulkey.
Joie Hansley
From Castle Pines, Colo. ... Senior at Rock Canyon High School ... Trains at Colorado Gymnastics Institute ... Currently a level 10 gymnast ... Member of National Honor Society.
"Joie is transitioning directly from artistic gymnastics. Her tumbling is clean and powerful. She will also train as a top in our program," said coach Mulkey.
Elise Manning
From Temple, Texas ... Senior at Belton High School ... Currently competes with Powerhouse Cheer & Fitness.
"Elise will be an asset as a base and can execute many strong tumbling passes that have the potential to score well," said coach Mulkey.
Hannah Schumacher
From Monroe, Wash. ... Senior at Monroe High School ... Competes with Connect Cheer NW ... Now competes with Prodigy All stars.
"Hannah is a talented athlete whose versatility will make her an asset in many events," said coach Mulkey.
