RUNDOWN
FORT WORTH, Texas -- No. 3 Baylor Equestrian (4-0, 1-0 Big 12) earned its first victory on the road, downing No. 6 TCU (2-2, 0-1 Big 12) in a tense meet that finished in a 9-9 draw, and had to be decided on a raw score tiebreaker. The overall mark favored the Bears, earning their first Big 12 win of the season, 1553.25-1512.75.
Equitation on the flat was claimed by TCU, 3-2, with Jenny Mitchell and Rachel Van Allen claiming points for BU.
Despite the loss on the flat, the Bears were able to win the points on Hunter Seat, 5-4. The Bears earned the win on equitation over fences, 3-1. Paige Parker, Shannon Hogue, and Savannah Jenkins, were the riders who lifted Baylor in this leg of the meet.
The Bears were bested in western, 5-4. Freshmen Abbi Demel and Kaylee Mellott, put points on the scorecard for Baylor in the horsemanship event, 2-2, with Mellott earning MOP recognition.
The Horned Frogs took the reining event, 3-2. Mary Brown and Elizabeth Shank earned the points for the Bears.
