THE RUNDOWN
OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. -
The Baylor men's golf team shot 17-over-par 297 in Friday's first round of the OFCC/Fighting Illini Invitational to finish the day in sixth place. The Bears trail leader Virginia Tech (+11) by six strokes with two rounds left to play.

Baylor is two strokes behind fifth-place Oklahoma State (+15) and three strokes out of a tie for third place with Illinois and Stanford (+14). Florida State is in second place at 13-over.

Two Baylor players finished the day among the top 15 individuals. Senior Kyle Jones shot 2-over 72 in the first round and is tied for sixth place, and senior Mikkel Bjerch-Andresen is tied for 14th place at 3-over-par 73.

Both Filippo Zucchetti and Niclas Mansson shot 6-over par in the first round and they are tied in 33rd place, while junior Andreas Gjesteby is in a tie for 52nd place after shooting 8-over par in his first round.

HIGHLIGHTS
• The Bears lead the field in par-4 scoring average at 4.32.
• Baylor has the third-most pars as a team with 56 made in 90 holes played.
• Jones is second in the field in par-5 scoring average at 4.50.
• Bjerch-Andresen had 13 pars in his 18 holes, which tied the sixth-most of any player in the 75-player field.

STAT OF THE ROUND
14- the number of pars made by Jones in the first round, tying him for the third-most pars made by anyone in the field.

WHAT'S NEXT
Baylor is again paired with Stanford and Oklahoma State for Saturday's second round. Tee times for the Bears begin at 10 a.m. CT.
