EQ Lands Eight on NCEA All-America Teams

WACO, Texas - The National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) selected its 2013-14 All-America teams Tuesday and Baylor earned eight all-America awards between the four disciplines.

Baylor had four honorees in equitation on the flat. Samantha Schaefer, a junior from Westminster, Md. was named first team. Savannah Jenkins, a freshman from Virginia Beach, Va., and Jenny Mitchell, a sophomore from Tulsa, Okla., were named second team. Freshman Alicia Gasser, from Scottsdale, Ariz. was named honorable mention.

Baylor had two first-team winners in equitation over fences. Schaefer picked up her second first-team all-America honor in fences, and Paige Parker, a sophomore from Medford, N.J., was tabbed first team as well.

In horsemanship Bryn Lindley, a senior from Loomis, Calif,, earned first-team honors for Baylor.

Senior Claire Edwards, a senior from Temecula, Calif. was named honorable mention for her performance in reining throughout the year.

The NCEA National Championship will take place April 17-19 at the Extraco Events Center in Waco, Texas. It marks the eighth consecutive year that Baylor, the city of Waco and McLennan County have hosted the national championship.
