BAYLOR POSTGAME QUOTES

Baylor Head Coach Kim Mulkey
Opening Statement...

"Let's talk about the good first - we won. I thought we got good production out of several players. As you can see I can play a lot of players and a lot of different combinations. I thought the free throws were terrible. We shot terribly from the foul line. I thought we gave up too many points. 60 is too many for a game like this, and we've got to fix that. If we are going to play a lot of players and switch girls in and out, we have to know the value of defense. I know we were doubling down the big girl. We did do a good job on her. She had three shot attempts in the first half and six in the second. That's pretty good and we allowed them to get some open looks, but I just thought those were the two areas of concern. We finally ended the game out-rebounding them. We won that battle. I thought it was a good first game. The crowd was outstanding considering it is a high school football playoff night. We've got that first one behind us."

On the depth of the team...
"Well, we can go with a lot of different combinations. I never even put Sune [Agbuke] and Kristina [Higgins] in together. We can go athletic and smaller at the post, which is not all that bad and we pressed with that lineup. We can also run pretty darn well with that lineup. And then you can go big if you need to. And you can also go big and small in the perimeter. So I have a lot work with and think about, and I don't have my mind made up yet. I think I just have to keep experimenting and come Monday I'll do it."

On Baylor's 31 forced turnovers...
"We want to force 16 a game. We have goals and that is good. If you look at our turnovers we only had about eight, and that is excellent. We've cut in half what we did in the exhibition games, and that's great."

Sophomore Imani Wright
On her performance tonight...

"I just wanted to come off the bench with energy just to give my team anything I was capable of and focus on defense mainly."

On sitting out the exhibition games...
"Watching it, you want to play, you want to be out there, but I was really excited to be back and I am glad we got the win."

Sophomore Nina Davis

On the fastbreaks...
"I'm more comfortable leading the fastbreak. It's just exciting you know. You are just taking the fastbreak or getting it to my teammates. It was a lot of fun tonight. They were cracking a lot of jokes tonight. Like, `oh you should have passed it here,' and I was like, `oh, I ran and you didn't see me.' They try to make fun of my point guard skills, but I think they're alright."

On her connection with Niya Johnson...
"I threw it to Niya and she threw it to me. Just playing with her every day you just get that connection so I pretty much knew she would pass it back to me."

ORAL ROBERTS POSTGAME QUOTES

Oral Roberts Head Coach Misti Cussin
Opening Statement:

"First of all, I just want to thank Coach Mulkey and her staff for letting us come down here again to Waco this year. It's always a good trip. We love coming to Waco, just because it's a great women's basketball crowd, and fans, and great crowd support. I was just tickled last night as we were walking into practice and I have five freshmen who are going to play a lot of minutes first this year, and their eyes were real big walking down the hall and just checking things out. And that's part of the honor of the opportunity to come here to Waco and play at the Ferrell Center. We'll have a much different team as we get weathered and we get seasoned on into the year. We really love playing elite teams like we played here tonight; it gives us a lot of opportunity to expose weaknesses we have."

On the turnovers:
"I thought in the first half we tried to cut corners and we spent too much time going one-on-one. My senior starter, No. 0 Atoe' Jackson, she got three charges in the first half, and she was just trying to do too much instead of playing more of a team style offensively. She's much better later in a possession creating off of her dribble. I think part of that was Baylor did a great job scouting our two exhibition games and kind of seeing what our tendencies were. But we kept hitting our heads against the concrete wall and not learning from one or two mistakes; it took us seven or eight mistakes tonight to get that going. But, yeah, too much in a hurry offensively and our defense could only keep us close for so long without our scoring. I just thought Baylor's front court and back court have such great size and I thought our guards just were too tentative getting the ball into Vicky [McIntyre] and getting the ball to our post players as well."

On impressions of her team differences from two years ago when they last played Baylor:
"I think now we actually have more strength inside, obviously with Vicky McIntyre, and you know Vicky had great numbers in this game. She's a seasoned BCS-level post player. But we're really young in our guard areas. We don't have a lot of outside scoring in our guard players. But, right now, we're a team that's kind of figuring out what our roles are offensively."
