WACO, Texas - With five matches remaining, Baylor's volleyball team will play host to TCU Wednesday at the Ferrell Center at 7 p.m. on Fox Sports Southwest. The Bears (13-13, 3-8) are clinging to their last hopes of an NCAA Tournament push beginning with the Horned Frogs (15-11, 6-5) Wednesday.
The match marks the first televised home match of the season for the Bears and John Morris will have the play by play while former Baylor volleyball player Kristen "Schram" Bates will provide color commentary. For the states of Texas and Arkansas, the broadcast will be on Fox Sports Southwest, while out-of-state cable or dish subscribers that receive Fox College Sports Pacific will be able to view the match.
Baylor is trying to return to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2011, and will need to win at least the majority of its final five matches for consideration. The Bears have wins over Kansas State and Iowa State this season, and both teams rank No. 16 and No. 18, respectively in Monday's latest NCAA RPI rankings. The Bears - at No. 58 - take on No. 81 TCU Wednesday, KSU again Saturday at home, No. 4 Texas Nov. 19, No. 90 West Virginia Nov. 22 and ISU Nov. 29 to close the seasons. Baylor was 18-15 overall and 5-11 in Big 12 play in 2011 when it was last selected as an at-large participant.
The Horned Frogs defeated Baylor in four sets in Fort Worth, Oct. 4. Since then, TCU has posted a 3-5 record, and all but one match came against a Big 12 opponent. However, the Horned Frogs enter Wednesday with a three-match Big 12 win streak. TCU defeated West Virginia (Oct. 29), Kansas (Nov. 1) and No. 24 Oklahoma (Nov. 5) in consecutive matches at home. TCU fell in a non-conference match Sunday at North Texas in three sets.
TCU has only one all-time win over Baylor in Waco, and it came last season in three sets, Oct. 16.
