BU's Warren delivers six kills in most extended action of the season

WACO, Texas – No. 20 Baylor volleyball suffered its first setback of the 2026 season Saturday afternoon, falling to No. 17 Florida, 3-0 (25-13, 25-23, 25-19), in front of 1,926 fans at the Ferrell Center.

Ksenia Rakhmanchik paced the Bears with 12 kills on 35 attacks, while Bailey Warren added six kills and Victoria Davis hit .429 with four kills. Harley Greek made multiple impact plays in the match and finished with 12 assists and two blocks, while Mya Hemmer finished with a team-high four rejections.

Saturday was Baylor's first time being swept at home since Sept. 18, 2024, against No. 8 Texas.

RUNDOWN
Florida jumped out to a 4-0 lead to open the match before Baylor answered with three of the next four points, including a big block from Hemmer and Nadiya Johnson. Rakhmanchik then recorded back-to-back kills to keep the Bears within striking distance at 6-5. The Gators, however, used a 7-2 run to build a 13-7 advantage. Warren and Rakhmanchik strung together a couple of kills to cut the deficit to 19-10, but Florida maintained control and closed the set, 25-13.

Baylor came out with renewed energy, taking an early 4-2 lead before the teams traded points throughout the opening portion of the second set. Rakhmanchik delivered several key kills as Baylor held leads at 7-6 and 9-8, before erasing a three-point Florida advantage to tie the set at 16-16. Baylor continued to battle and eventually took a 20-19 lead on a Warren block. Florida answered to regain the lead before the Bears tied the set at 21-21 and again at 23-23. The Gators then scored the final two points to take the set, 25-23, and take the two-set lead.

Florida established an early 5-2 lead, eventually ballooning it to 9-3. The Bears continued to battle, with Rakhmanchik and Davis providing some big points, but the Gators maintained a comfortable advantage through the middle portion of the set. Facing match point, BU strung together three-straight points to cut Florida's lead to 24-19, but the Gators answered with the final point to complete the 3-0 sweep.

With four kills on Saturday, Victoria Davis surpassed 300 (302) for her career.

Baylor is now 21-9 against ranked teams at home since 2019.
BU is 2-4 all-time against the Gators, but 2-2 in the McGuyre era.

Bailey Warren on continuing to work herself back into the rotation — "It feels really good, honestly, it's really refreshing. The team is really supportive as well, and just having that support system really helps. I just love playing too, so I'm just happy to be back."

Harley Greek on how Saturday's Game will help them down the road — "Florida was definitely the best team we've seen this season, so it was good for us just to see great, talented volleyball. They're also playing their best volleyball right now, which is exactly what we want when we go into matches. We had some really high highs and some really low lows. It encourages me that the highs look good, and we can build off of that into December. Now it's about just leveling out when the lows get low. I think that'll just come with time, experience and training. I have no doubt that we can get there with the highs looking so good."

WHAT'S NEXT
The Bears return to the road for the Ameritas Challenge in Lincoln, Neb. The tournament begins with a showdown against Georgia Tech on Thursday, Sept. 10 at 4 p.m. CT. The Bears will then see No. 1 Nebraska on Friday at 7 p.m., before facing New Mexico at 11 a.m. on Saturday to close out the event.
