Oct. 18, 2014 ORLANDO, Fla. - The No. 4-ranked Baylor men's golf team is headed to the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational, which is hosted by Central Florida and Texas Tech at the Lake Nona Golf and Country Club in Orlando, Fla.
The Bears have climbed to No. 4 in the latest GolfStat team rankings after finishing among the top three teams in each of their first 2014-15 events, including one tournament title.
The three-day, 54-hole event runs Sunday through Tuesday and will be played at 7,200-yard, par-72 course. Baylor is one of 15 teams in the field, including No. 1 Illinois, No. 2 Florida State, No. 7 Texas Tech, No. 12 Vanderbilt, No. 14 New Mexico, No. 17 California, No. 30 UNLV, No. 33 Georgia, No. 47 North Florida, No. 50 Arkansas, No. 55 Florida, No. 57 GRU-Augusta, Indiana and Central Florida.
"It is a good field, very strong," head coach Mike McGraw said. "That's good. We like to see really good teams and compete. It's some teams we haven't seen before this fall, so that's good too. It's a good field with really good teams, so we're excited."
Baylor returns three players to the lineup that finished among the top 10 individuals in last week's Rod Myers Invitational. The Bears' lineup will be led by senior Kyle Jones, who has finished among the top four individuals in all three of Baylor's events this season. Joining Jones are seniors Mikkel Bjerch-Andresen and Filippo Zucchetti. Rounding out the line-up are juniors Andreas Gjesteby and Frederik Andersen.
"We're just excited to continue to play well," McGraw said. "We're really pumped up to go out and have a good week."
Sunday's first round tee times for the Bears begin at 7 a.m. CT. Baylor is paired with Central Florida and Florida. The Bears will tee off on the first hole with Andersen up first, followed by Gjesteby, Zucchetti, Bjerch-Andresen and Jones in 10-minute intervals, respectively.
