THE RUNDOWN
AUSTIN, Texas - The Baylor women's golf team finished Sunday's first round of play in a tie for third place at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational at The University of Texas Golf Club. The Lady Bears shot even-par 288 in the first of three rounds at the event. BU is just four strokes behind the tournament leader UNLV (-4) and two strokes behind SMU (-2).
Senior Hayley Davis tied her own school record by shooting 7-under-par 65, placing her in a tie for the individual lead with Iowa State's Chonlada Chayanun. Davis has tied the school record with a 65 in three of her last eight rounds played dating back to the final round of the 2014 NCAA Championships.
Freshman Giovana Maymon and sophomore Louise Gateau-Chovelon are tied for 23rd place after shooting 2-over 74, while sophomore Maggie Beth Byers and junior Laura Lonardi are tied for 35th place with scores of 3-over 75. Sophomore Hadas Libman, who is playing as an individual, shot 4-over 76 and is tied for 42nd place.
HIGHLIGHTS
? Davis was one of only two players in the 81-player field to have an eagle during Sunday's opening round.
? Baylor led the 15-team field in par-3 scoring with an average of 2.85. The Lady Bears were also fourth in par 4s with an average of 4.16 and third in par 5s with an average of 4.90.
? Davis and Byers led the 81-player individual field in par-3 scoring at 2.50, and Davis also led in par-5 scoring with an average of 4.00.
? Baylor's 23 team birdies in the opening round were most in the tournament.
? Davis had seven birdies, the second-most in the individual field and the most for the Lady Bears. Maymon, Byers, Gateau-Chovelon and Lonardi each contributed four birdies apiece.
STAT OF THE DAY
3 - The number of times Davis has shot a school-record low of 65 in collegiate tournament play, all over her last eight rounds played. Davis also shot 65 in the final round of the 2014 NCAA Championships and in the second round of the 2014 Schooner Fall Classic.

"It was a great round for Hayley today. She had seven birdies and an eagle, which is spectacular on this course," head coach Jay Goble said. "The rest of the team did well also. I am happy to see them fight for a good finish. These rounds get long out here, and to see them do well at going through their routines at the end of the day shows a lot of determination. We will stick with our routines tomorrow and be ready for a great day."

Baylor plays the second of three rounds on Monday. BU players will begin from the first tee with Lonardi up first at 9 a.m. CT.
