THE RUNDOWN
WACO, Texas - The No. 1-ranked Baylor equestrian team fell in a heartbreaker to Auburn Friday, 10-9 at the Willis Family Equestrian Center. The Bears were outscored 6-4 in hunt seat events, and Baylor edged the Tigers in western events, 5-4.

However, for the third-straight time Auburn came out victorious dating back to the Tigers' two wins over Baylor in the NCEA national championships last season.

Auburn took 3-2 wins in both fences and flat before Baylor rebounded with a 3-1 victory in horsemanship. BU's Mary Brown and Auburn's Stephanie Rucci tied with 72.5 points apiece in horsemanship, resulting in no fifth point scored.

The Bears followed by winning 3-2 in reining, but the Tigers held the one-point edge in the final tally.

Baylor dropped to 5-2 on the season while Auburn improved to 4-1 on the season.

  • Baylor's Samantha Schaefer earned MOP honors in fences with a score of 87.
  • The Bears' Bryn Lindley earned MOP honors in horsemanship with a score of 75.5

WHAT'S NEXT
Baylor's fall-semester portion of the 2013-14 schedule concluded with Friday's meet, and the Bears will resume competition February 8 against Delaware State at home.
