Men's Tennis' Zsiga Earns Regional Honor

WACO, Texas - Freshman men's tennis player Mate Zsiga was named 2012 Texas Region Rookie of the Year by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

The Szeged, Hungary, native, is ranked No. 17 nationally and owns the team's top record at 36-7 on the season and 22-4 in dual match play, all at the No. 1 spot. Zsiga has also received Big 12 Freshman of the Year honors as well as All-Big 12 singles recognition and is one of 64 players selected to play in the NCAA Championships singles bracket.

Zsiga is the sixth Baylor player to earn regional Rookie of the Year honors. He joins Zoltan Papp (2000), Benjamin Becker (2002), Matija Zgaga (2004), Lars Poerschke (2005) and Dennis Lengsfeld (2011) as award recipients.
