WACO, Texas - Baylor Acrobatics & Tumbling fell to No. 2 seed Oregon 286.285-275.41 in the semifinals of the National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association (NCATA) National Championships on Friday night at the Ferrell Center.
"The girls had their best practices ever this week," head coach LaPrise Harris-Williams said. "They prepared well for the competition, and I've been delighted to coach so many athletes with such heart."
Oregon held a two-point lead after the first two events, outscoring the Bears 39.35-38.55 in Compulsories and 28.95-27.7 in the Acro event.
The Ducks added onto their lead by winning the Pyramid event, 29.8-29.4 and Baylor trailed Oregon by a score of 98.1-95.65 at halftime.
Oregon gained a full four-point lead after winning the Toss event 28.9-28.35. The gap grew even bigger after the Bears lost the Tumbling event, 58.975-57.45.
Baylor entered the final event - the Team Routine - trailing Oregon 185.975-181.45. The Bears scored 93.96, and the Ducks tallied 100.31, giving Oregon a 286.285-275.41 victory and advancing them to compete against No. 1 Maryland in the NCATA Championship at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
The Bears will compete for the final time this season in the Individual Skill Event National Championships at 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
