2010-11 NGCA All-American Scholar Teams
CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. - Baylor women's golf senior Morgan Chambers and freshman Kaylin Terry were named to the 2010-2011 National Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Team earlier this month.
Chambers, a native of Purcell, Okla., is the second four-time NGCA All-American Scholar in program history, joining Anna Rehnholm (2004-07). She graduated from Baylor in May with a degree in health science studies and pre-med, concluding her collegiate career with a 3.85 grade-point average. She was named to the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll in all eight semesters at Baylor and was also a two-time Academic All-Big 12 selection. In April, she was one of 12 student-athletes recognized by the Big 12 Conference as part of the 2011 Spring Chick-fil-A Community of Champions. In March, she was one of 14 Baylor student-athletes to earn the inaugural Dr. Gerald Lage Award, the Big 12's highest academic honor (cumulative GPA of 3.80 or higher and 100 hours of earned credit).
As a senior, Chambers carded a 78.00 stroke average in 19 rounds, including a top-25 finish. She earned a perfect 4.0 GPA during the spring 2011 semester and was one of two Baylor student-athletes named to the Capital One Academic Women's At-Large All-District VI second team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Terry, a native of Austin, Texas, concluded her freshman season at Baylor, carding an 80.09 scoring average in 22 rounds. Terry is the first Baylor freshman to earn NGCA All-American Scholar honors since Chambers did so in 2008. A pre-business major, she recorded a perfect 4.0 GPA in each of her first two semesters at Baylor and was a two-time Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll selection as a freshman.
A total of 566 women's collegiate golfers across Divisions I, II and III were recognized with this prestigious honor. The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletes. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50 and student-athletes must have competed in at least 50% (Division I) or 66% (Divisions II & III) of the college's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.
