WACO, Texas - Baylor women's golf senior Morgan Chambers and women's tennis senior Taylor Ormond earned Capital One Academic Women's At-Large All-District VI second-team honors, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday.

The Academic All-District teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. District VI covers the states of Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico; women's at-large selections include 13 different sports.

Chambers, who graduated from Baylor last week with a degree in health science students and pre-med, concluded her collegiate career with a 3.85 grade-point average. She has been named to the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll seven times and is a two-time Academic All-Big 12 selection. In April, she was one of 12 student-athletes recognized by the Big 12 Conference as part of the 2011 Spring Chick-fil-A Community of Champions. In March, she was one of 14 Baylor student-athletes to earn the inaugural Dr. Gerald Lage Award, the Big 12's highest academic honor (cumulative GPA of 3.80 or higher and 100 hours of earned credit).

A three-time Academic Scholar-Athlete by the National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA), Chambers is only the third golfer in program history to earn Academic All-District honors. She joins three-time selection Melanie Hagewood (2001, 2002, 2003) and Meredith Jones (2005). In 33 career events, she sported a 79.28 scoring average, posting one top-10, five top-15 and six top-25 finishes.

One day after winning the coveted NCAA Elite 88 award, Ormond was named to the Academic All-District second team for the second year in a row. A senior English major from Hamilton, Ontario, Ormond holds a 3.929 grade-point average while playing at the No. 6 singles position and No. 2 doubles position for BU. This season, Ormond has compiled a 10-6 record in singles play, including a current six-match win streak for the seventh-ranked Baylor women's tennis team.

Over her career, Ormond has compiled a spectacular list of academic accomplishments, including being named to the Academic All-Big 12 First Team three times, the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll seven times, and the Baylor Dean's List six times, along with earning the 2009 ITA Scholar-Athlete of the Year award.
