COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The No. 8 Baylor Equestrian team took home third place, defeating Kansas State, 9-6 in the consolation competition of the Big 12 Championship in College Station.
The Bears and Wildcats were tied at two after Reining, as Olivia Rogers (146.0) and Amber Mooney (142.0) picked up a pair of points for BU.
Baylor took a one-point lead with a 2-1 win in Horsemanship, as Chelsea Retmier (147.5) and Meghan Murphy (150.0) led the way for the Bears.
The Bears took a 4-3 lead into Hunter Seat and extended it with a 3-1 victory in Flat. The Bears had three of the top scores, as Lisa Goldman (167.0), Kendra Vicary (146.0) and Kim Woodsum (150.0) put Baylor up 7-4.
Behind Goldman's second Hunter Seat point, Baylor wrapped up the win with a 2-2 tie in Fences. Goldman (175.00) had the highest score of the entire day's competition, while Ashley Ann McGehee (156.00) earned the other point for BU.
The Bears will now ready themselves for the Varsity Equestrian National Championships, which will be hosted on April 15-17 at the Extraco Events Center in Waco.
