Equestrian Falls to Oklahoma State

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The No. 8 Baylor Equestrian team suffered a 10-5 loss to Oklahoma State on Friday afternoon at the Brazos County Expo Complex in College Station, Texas. This loss marked the end of day one of the Big 12 Championships and resulted in the Bears moving to 10-7 on the season.

The Cowgirls started off strong, defeating Baylor 4-0 in the reining competition.

Chelsea Retmier (140.5) scored the lone point for Baylor as they fell 2-1 in horsemanship. Retmier's point resulted in the Bears trailing Oklahoma State 7-1 through half of the events.

Baylor attempted a comeback in the Hunter Seat competition, beginning with a 2-2 tie in equitation on the flat. Taylor Brown (153) and Lisa Goldman (166) each earned points for the Bears. Goldman's score was also enough to earn her MVP honors.

The Bears continued to remain even with the Cowgirls with a 2-2 tie in equitation over fences. Taylor Brown's score of 159 earned her MVP honors. Kara Fergusson (156) also contributed a point for Baylor; but despite a 4-4 tie in Hunter Seat, the Bears fell to Oklahoma State 10-5.

The Big 12 Championships will continue Saturday morning at 10 a.m. when Baylor competes against Kansas State.
