The Bears enter the series with a 2-2 record. Baylor took two of three from Oral Roberts in the season's opening weekend before dropping a 2-0 pitchers' duel to No. 4 TCU on Tuesday. Georgia is 1-3 after notching its first win of the season in Wednesday's home opener against Furman. The Bulldogs were swept in a three-game series at Stetson to start the 2011 season.

Baylor and Georgia met for the first time in the programs' history in the 2010 QTI Powers Opening Weekend Classic. UGA won 7-5 in the first meeting on Feb. 19, but Baylor rebounded to even the series with a 5-2 win on Feb. 21.

BAYLOR - GEORGIA SERIES HISTORY
Baylor and Georgia met for the first time in the programs' history in the 2010 QTI Powers Opening Weekend Classic. UGA won 7-5 in the first meeting on Feb. 19, but Baylor rebounded to even the series with a 5-2 win on Feb. 21.

BAYLOR vs. SOUTHEASTERN CONFERENCE
Baylor is 57-53 all-time against teams currently playing as members of the Southeastern Conference. The Bears have played Arkansas (37-36), Florida (1-1), Georgia (1-1), LSU (2-7), Mississippi (4-1), Mississippi State (6-3), South Carolina (0-1), Tennessee (1-0) and Vanderbilt (5-3).

The last time Baylor played a regular season game on the road against an SEC team was when the Bears swept a three-game series on March 9-10, 2008 at Mississippi State.

TEAM NOTES
• SERIES: Baylor and Georgia met for the first time in 2010 when the Bears and Bulldogs split a pair of games in the QTI Powers Opening Weekend Classic in Waco.
• Baylor remained No. 16 in Baseball America's Feb. 21 poll. No teams moved ahead of the Bears.
• Baylor is 120-60 (.667) in the month of February during the Steve Smith era.
• Baylor holds a 57-53 record against teams currently playing in the Southeastern Conference.
• Baylor leads the Big 12 Conference with a .982 fielding percentage.
• The Bears were picked fourth in the Big 12 preseason coaches' poll, behind Oklahoma, Texas and Texas A&M.
Baseball America projects the Bears to finish third in the league and ranks Baylor No. 16 nationally.
• Since the start of the 2003 season, Baylor is 21-13 in extra-inning games, including 1-0 this season.
• Baylor has ranked in the nation's top 25 in attendance in all 12 years since Baylor Ballpark opened in 1999.
• Eight players on Baylor's roster have been selected in previous MLB Drafts, tied for third-most in the Big 12.

PLAYER NOTES
Brooks Pinckard has been named to the NCBWA Stopper of the Year Award preseason watch list.
• Pinckard needs one save to take over sole possession of fifth on Baylor's career saves list. He hit a game-winning homer in the seventh inning of Saturday's game, then pitched 2.0 shutout innings to close out the win.
College Baseball Daily ranked Logan Verrett as the No. 51 player in college baseball in its preseason Top 100.
• Verrett was ranked No. 4 on Perfect Game Cross Checker's Top Big 12 Prospects for 2011 MLB Draft.
• Verrett was named to the Golden Spikes Award preseason watch list, one of six Big 12 players on the list.
Perfect Game named Max Muncy No. 3 on its Top Big 12 Prospects for the 2012 MLB Draft.
Jake Miller's 10th-inning walk-off double on Sunday was the first extra-inning, walk-off hit by a Baylor player since Dustin Dickerson's 11th-inning walk-off single vs. Missouri on April 11, 2009.
• Freshman RHP Trae Davis picked up a pair of wins last weekend. He's one of two Big 12 pitchers with two wins.
• Seven Baylor freshmen have not yet competed in a game for the Bears: Taylor Alspaugh, Doug Ashby, Clay Cunningham, Nate Goodwin, Will Gray, Grayson Porter and Sean Spicer.

PRESEASON BRACKETOLOGY HAS BEARS HOSTING
Baseball America's preseason NCAA Tournament projections have Baylor hosting a regional in Waco for the first time since 2005. BA projects the Bears to host Louisiana State (No. 2 seed), Oregon State (No. 3) and Wright State (No. 4). The Bears are one of five Big 12 teams in the projections, joining Texas (No. 1 seed in Austin), Oklahoma (No. 1 in Norman), Texas A&M (No. 2 at Rice) and Nebraska (No. 3 at Florida).

TWO MORE BRACKETOLOGISTS PICK BEARS AS No. 2 SEED
In additon to being projected to host a regional in Waco by Baseball America, Baylor is picked as a No. 2 seed in a pair of preseason NCAA Tournament brackets. College Baseball Daily has the Bears going to Palo Alto, Calif. to be the second seed in the Stanford Regional. Hawaii (No. 3) and Southeastern Louisiana (No. 4) round out that projection. ESPN also has Baylor as a No. 2 seed, though it has the Bears traveling to play in the Clemson Regional along with Western Carolina (No. 3) and Charlotte (No. 4).

BEARS TOUGH TO BEAT IN WACO
Baylor is 24-6 in its last 30 games at Baylor Ballpark, including 12-2 in non-conference games.

The Bears had a 10-game winning streak in non-conference home games snapped when they lost the season opener to Oral Roberts. Before the streak was snapped, ORU was the last non-Big 12 team to beat the Bears in Waco when it took the opener of a four-game set on March 5, 2010. Baylor came back to win the remaining games in the series both times.

Three of Baylor's six losses in Waco since dropping the series opener to ORU in 2010 came in extra innings and/or were one-run defeats (vs. Kansas, 12-6 in 14 innings on 3/28/10), (vs. No. 2 Texas, 4-2 in 10 innings on 4/30/10) and (vs. Kansas, 9-8 on 3/26/10). The Bears' other losses were to Nebraska (6-2 on 4/24/10), Oral Roberts (2/18/11) and vs. No. 4 TCU (2/22/11). Since losing the series finale vs. Kansas, Baylor has gone 15-4 at Baylor Ballpark.

UP NEXT
The Bears return to Baylor Ballpark to host Texas State at 4 p.m. Tuesday. Baylor won both home games against the Bobcats in 2010, but TSU beat the Bears in the teams' lone meeting in San Marcos. Next weekend, Baylor travels to the Houston College Classic at Minute Maid Park to take on Houston (Friday at noon), Utah (Saturday at noon) and Rice (Sunday at 2:30 p.m.).
