The Baylor equestrian team (4-0) kept its undefeated record intact with a 9-8 win over Kansas State (1-1) Friday afternoon in Manhattan, Kan.
"It came down to the final point and we came through," head coach Ellen White said. "This gives the team confidence heading into tomorrow."
The Bears opened with a 4-1 win in Flat. Lisa Goldman's 83 gave her a win along with MVP honors, while Taylor Brown (78), Kara Fergusson (76) and Malanie Appel (73) picked up points for BU.
Despite dropping Fences 3-2, Baylor earned the 6-4 Hunter Seat victory. Goldman earned another 83 for a point and Fergusson's 76 garnered the other point.
The Wildcats closed the gap to one in Horsemanship with a 3-2 win, as Meghan Murphy (71.5) and Parris Rice (71) earned scores for BU.
Holding a one point lead, Baylor looked to hold on in Reining and did just that. With each sqaud earning a point and two ties, it came down to Shelbey Jackson's ride. She equaled her opponent's 72.5 to pull out the 9-8 win. Barbara Aitken's 72.5 earned the point and MVP for the Bears.
Baylor will remain on the road for a competition against Oklahoma State on Saturday beginning at 10:00 a.m.
