DURHAM, N.C. -The Baylor men's golf team is seven strokes back in third place Saturday through two rounds at the second annual Rod Myers Invitational at Duke University Golf Club.
Baylor, which is ranked No. 19 by Golfstat and No. 23 in the Golfweek/Sagarin ratings, shot 4-over 580 and trails only leader Charlotte (3-under 573) and host Duke (1-under 575).
Eight golfers - including Baylor junior Ryan O'Rear - are at even-par or better through 36 holes. O'Rear carded a second-round 70 to finish the day tied for seventh at even-par 144. O'Rear registered four birdies Saturday, including three during the second round. Iowa's Steven Ihm leads all golfers at 4-under 140, one stroke ahead of second-place Charlotte Raoul Menard.
Joakim Mikkelsen, who has a pair of top-10 finishes already this season, is tied for ninth at 1-over 145. Drew McGee set a personal 36-hole best, firing a 2-over 146, while tying an 18-hole low with a first-round 72. McGee is tied for 15th overall.
Lorenzo Scotto is one stroke behind McGee in a 21st-place tie at 3-over 147, while freshman Kyle Jones shot 8-over 152 and is tied for 37th.
The final round of the Rod Myers Invitational will tee off Sunday at 7:05 a.m. CDT. Live scoring will be available on www.GolfStat.com.
