Equestrain Loses to No. 6 South Carolina, 12-6

WACO - The Baylor Equestrian team (6-5) fell to South Carolina 12-6 Sunday afternoon at the Willis Family Equestrian Center.

The Bears got off to a rough start, losing Equitation on the Flat 4-1. Kim Woodsum (81) scored the lone point for Baylor.

Baylor continued to struggle in the Hunter Seat competition losing Equitation over Fences 3-2. Ashley Ann McGehee (84) and Kara Fergusson (80) each notched points for BU and resulted in Baylor having a 7-3 disadvantage through half of the events.

South Carolina continued to widen their lead with a 4-0 sweep in Horsemanship.

Baylor attempted a late comeback winning Reining 3-1. Barbara Aiken's score of 72.5 was enough to earn her MVP honors. Shelby Jackson (71) and Amber Mooney (67.5) also earned points for the Bears. Despite the attempted comeback, Baylor fell short of South Carolina 12-6.

The Bears will next be in action on the road on Saturday, Feb. 4 as they take on TCU.
