WACO, Texas - Baylor head men's tennis coach Matt Knoll recently announced the signing of Dennis Lengsfeld (Alterkuelz, Germany) to a National Letter of Intent for the 2011 academic year.

The 6'3" right-hander will join a Baylor squad that boasts five returnees from a 2010 team that reached the NCAA quarterfinals. The 20-year-old Lengsfeld is a graduate of GYK Koblenz High School in Germany.

Lengsfeld continues a line of German talent that Knoll has brought to Waco over his 14 seasons at the helm of the Baylor program. Other Germans that have played for Knoll include junior Julian Bley (Veitshoechheim, Germany), Dominik Mueller (Frankfurt, Germany), Gwen Corches (Munich, Germany), Lars Poerschke (Buseck, Germany) and NCAA Singles Champions Benjamin Becker (Orscholz, Germany) and Benedikt Dorsch (Weiden, Germany).

Lengsfeld joins five-star recruit Robert Verzaal (Shreveport, La), as freshmen on a Baylor team that also includes three seniors, three juniors and one sophomore.

Baylor will begin spring tennis action on January 14 when the Bears travel to California to take part in the Sherwood Cup. The team's first dual match of the season will be on Thursday, Jan. 20, when the Bears host Louisiana-Lafayette at 3 p.m.
