TUCSON, Ariz. - Logan Vick and Max Muncy were both named to the Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American team, as announced by Collegiate Baseball newspaper on Wednesday.

Vick and Muncy are the first Baylor teammates to be honored as Freshman All-Americans in the same season since pitchers Ryan LaMotta and Abe Woody in 2003. The duo is also the first pair of Baylor position players to be named to the same team since Jeremy Dodson and Jon Topolski were selected in 1996 as outfielders.

Vick, a native of Kerrville, Texas, hit .329 with 17 doubles, two triples, 10 home runs, 59 runs scored, 27 RBI, 59 walks and 11 stolen bases. Vick's 59 walks set a new program record for most walks in a single season, passing Jon Topolski, who drew 55 walks in 1999.

Vick's on-base percentage of .473 ranked as the sixth-best single-season total in program history and the highest number ever posted by a Baylor underclassman. Additionally, Vick set Baylor freshman records for multi-hit games (27) and extra-base hits (29). His 17 doubles were the second-most by a Baylor freshman, one short of Matt Williams' program record set in 1998.

Vick led the team in runs scored, doubles, walks, total bases (126), on-base percentage and slugging percentage (.553). He ranked third in batting average and tied for second in hits (75). Vick was also the only Baylor player to start every game. Despite playing almost exclusively on the infield during his prep career, Vick started all 60 games in left field and was the only Baylor regular to play errorless defense for the season.

As the Bears' leadoff hitter, Vick reached base safely with a hit or a walk in his first 33 games and 57 of 60 contests on the season - including all 36 games at Baylor Ballpark. He also had streaks of 11 and 15 games in which he reached base safely multiple times in every game. He batted leadoff 58 times and third in the order twice.

Muncy, a native of Keller, Texas, hit .300 with 13 doubles, 11 home runs, 53 RBI, 47 runs scored and 24 walks. He set various Baylor freshman records, including home runs, RBI, multi-RBI games (17), total fielding chances (582) and putouts (541). His 17 multi-RBI games tied for the eighth-most in a single season in program history.

Muncy led the team in home runs and RBI, ranked sixth in batting average, second in runs scored, third in doubles, second in total bases (115), third in slugging percentage (.500) and second in walks. Additionally, he was a perfect 5-for-5 stealing bases, giving him the fifth-best total on the team.

Muncy started at first base in 59 of the Bears' 60 games on the season, and he hit in the middle of the order for the majority of the year, batting either third, fourth or fifth in the lineup 47 times.

Vick was named Big 12 Conference Freshman of the Year by the Waco Tribune-Herald. He also picked up second-team all-conference honors from the league's coaches and was named to the Fort Worth Regional all-tournament team.

Vick and Muncy give the Bears 12 Collegiate Baseball freshman All-Americans since the first Baylor players were honored in 1996. Vick is the third Baylor outfielder, and the first since 1996, to be named a Freshman All-American, while Muncy join Mike Huggins (2000) as the only Baylor first basemen to be named to the Freshman All-America team.
