Baylor returns home for a pair of midweek games against opponents from the Southland Conference. The Bears host Texas State on Tuesday and Northwestern State on Wednesday. Both games are slated for 6:30 p.m. Baylor is coming off a road trip to Missouri where it took two of three games against the Tigers to improve to 3-4 in Big 12 play.
Texas State enters Tuesday's game with a 17-9 overall record and a 9-3 mark in Southland Conference play. The Bobcats won two of three at Stephen F. Austin last weekend. They won the first two games of the series despite scoring just four and three runs, respectively, but the Bobcats dropped the finale 8-7.
Northwestern State has a game on Tuesday against Louisiana-Lafayette, but the Demons enter that game with a 19-7 overall record and a 7-4 tally in league play. They swept a three-game set against Sam Houston State last weekend. The Demons outscored the Bearkats 29-7 in the series.
All Baylor baseball games are broadcast live on Waco's 1660 ESPN Radio. Live streaming audio and GameTracker also are available for all Baylor baseball games online at www.BaylorBears.com, the official website of Baylor Athletics and a member of the CBS College Sports Network.

LAST TIME VS. TEXAS STATE
BAYLOR 3, TEXAS STATE 2 • FEB. €ˆ26, 2010 • BAYLOR BALLPARK • WACO, TEXAS
Gregg Glime's eighth-inning sacrifice fly broke a 2-2 tie, and Brooks Pinckard worked a perfect ninth to notch his third save in as many games as Baylor knocked off Texas State 3-2 in the opening game of the fifth-annual QTI Baylor Classic.
The Bears (4-1) have trailed at some point in all five games this season, but this was the first time Baylor got on the board first.
After starting pitcher Shawn Tolleson struck out two in a perfect top half of the first, Logan Vick and Joey Hainsfurther led off with consecutive singles to put runners on the corners with no outs in the bottom half of the inning.
Texas State (3-1) starter Michael Russo got Max Muncy to ground into a double play, but Vick scored on the play, giving Baylor a 1-0 lead.
Tolleson recorded four strikeouts while retiring the first six batters he faced, but Texas State tied the score at 1-1 in the third when Shaun Garcia and Jordan Kopycinski led off with back-to-back doubles. Two outs later, a bunt single and a walk loaded the bases, but Tolleson escaped the inning when Kyle Livingstone grounded out.
Neither team would score again until the sixth. Tolleson hit the first batter of the inning, then the Bobcats took a 2-1 lead on Garcia's RBI single. A walk loaded the bases, but Tolleson again escaped the jam, this time with a flyout.
The Bears answered with a run in the bottom half of the inning when Dan Evatt led off with a single, advanced to second on Cal Towey's sacrifice bunt and scored on Raynor Campbell's RBI single.
The sixth would be the last inning for both starting pitchers. Tolleson allowed two runs on five hits with two walks and six strikeouts in 6.0 innings. Russo surrendered two runs on eight hits with one walk and no strikeouts.
Freshman lefty Josh Turley (1-0) came out of the Baylor bullpen and got the win by allowing just one hit in a pair of scoreless innings, and the Bears regained the lead with a run in the bottom.
Max Muncy led off the eighth with a single, and Evatt took his place at first after a fielder's choice. Pinch runner Don Lambert advanced to second when Towey drew a walk, and an error on Kyle Kubitza loaded the bases, setting up Glime's sacrifice fly.
Campbell and Muncy both finished the day 2-for-4, with Campbell driving in a run and stealing two bases. Garcia had two of Texas State's six hits; he finished the game 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Carson Smith (0-1) took the loss for the Bobcats, though the only run he allowed in 2.0 innings was unearned.
Pinckard needed 10 pitches to retire Laurn Randell for the first out of the ninth, and then he got groundouts from each of the next two batters to earn the save.
LAST TIME VS. NORTHWESTERN STATE
BAYLOR 18, NORTHWESTERN STATE 1 • APRIL 7, 2009 • BAYLOR BALLPARK • WACO, TEXAS
Shaver Hansen was 4-for-4 with four RBI, and Josh Ludy was 3-for-4 with a home run and five RBI as seventh-ranked Baylor rolled to an 18-1 victory over Northwestern State in seven innings. Baylor (21-8) tallied 20 hits on the night, knocking 20-plus hits in a game for the third time this season and for the second consecutive game.
Northwestern State (14-14) managed only five hits, one of which was Justin O'Neal's one-out solo homer in the fourth. By that point, though, the game already was out of hand. The Bears scored four runs on four hits in the first inning and never looked back. Hansen got the scoring started with an RBI single. Later in the inning, Ben Booker and Dan Evatt had consecutive RBI singles, and Ludy plated Booker on an RBI fielder's choice.
The Bears blew open the game with a 10-run, 11-hit third inning that featured Raynor Campbell's two-run homer and Ludy's three-run homer. It was Campbell's third home run in two games after hitting two round-trippers in Sunday's series finale at Kansas. Ludy, who also had a one-out single in the inning, and Booker each had two hits in the third inning; Booker opened the frame with a double and later knocked an RBI single. The Bears sent 13 batters to the plate and scored nine-plus runs in an inning for the fourth time this season.
Meanwhile, Baylor starter Jon Ringenberg (2-0) turned in the best start of his career. He held Northwestern State to a run on five hits with no walks and four strikeouts over 6.0 innings. Ross Speed closed out the night on the mound with a perfect seventh inning, ending the game with a strikeout.
Northwestern State starter Clayton Cooper (0-4) was saddled with the loss, allowing 13 runs on 14 hits and a walk with three strikeouts over 2.2 innings.
Baylor added a run in the fourth on Hansen's single that plated Landis Ware, who opened the inning with a double. It was Hansen's sixth hit in as many at bats dating back to Sunday's game at Kansas. Hansen, the reigning Big 12 Player of the Week, had seven RBI in those six at bats.
The Bears capped the scoring with a three-run fifth, all of which came with two outs. Ludy ripped a bases-empty, two-out double and later scored on Joey Hainsfurther's pinch-hit RBI single. After Campbell, who walked, scored on a wild pitch, Chris Slater doubled home Hainsfurther for the 18th run of the night. The game was called after seven innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.
All nine Baylor starters hit safely and each starter scored at least once. Dustin Dickerson was 2-for-3 to extend his career-long hitting streak to 15 games, the third-longest in the Big 12 this season. Booker was 3-for-3 with a double, three runs scored and two RBI; like Hansen, Booker has hit safely in each of his last six at bats with six RBI and six runs scored. Dan Evatt was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI, while Campbell scored twice.

BAYLOR-TEXAS A&M SERIES €ˆHISTORY
Baylor and Texas A&M have met 263 times, with the €ˆBears holding a 114-148-1 record in the series. The teams first met on April 4, 1904, and the Bears have played only Texas more often in their history. Baylor is 73-70 in games played in Waco and the Bears are 25-27 against the Aggies during Steve Smith's tenure as head coach.
Though Baylor and Texas A&M meet every year for a three-game Big 12 Conference series, the teams met earlier this season for a non-conference game when the Aggies participated in the fifth-annual QTI Baylor Classic. Texas A&M won that game 4-2.
In a battle of top-5 teams a year ago, the home team won all three games. Third-ranked Texas A&M took the games in College Station on March 14 and March 15, and the fifth-ranked Bears returned home for a rare Monday game to defeat the Aggies 8-7 on March 16. The teams had been scheduled to play the first game of the series in Waco, but that game had to be moved to Monday due to inclement weather.
