Notes Package: NCAA West Regional 
TEMPE, Ariz. - The Baylor women's golf team will head to Tempe, Ariz., to compete in the 2009 NCAA West Regional, May 7-9.
Eight teams and two individuals will advance to the NCAA Championships to be held in Owings Mills, Md., later in May.
Baylor will be making its ninth NCAA Regional appearance in the last 10 years. Its best regional finish was a fifth place showing in 2004, when it advanced to the NCAA Championships for the first time in school history.
The NCAA West Regional will be held at the ASU Karsten Golf Course, a familiar site for head coach Sylvia Ferdon. Ferdon and the Lady Bears made its first regional appearance in Tempe, Arizona at the Karsten Golf Course in 2000. BU finished tied for 18th during the 2000 NCAA West Regional.
Junior Hannah Burke leads the way for the Lady Bears. Burke, who was recently named to the All-Big 12 Team for the second time in her three-year career, leads Baylor with a stroke average of 75.4 over 30 rounds of play and has placed in the top 10 in seven of her 10 tournaments this season.
Four of the five Lady Bears in the lineup for Baylor are underclassmen. Sophomores Morgan Chambers and Lene Hafsten-Morch lead the talented underclassmen in stroke average. Hafsten-Morch has a stroke average of 77.70 over 30 rounds of play, while Chambers has averaged 78.89. Freshman Chelsey Cothran and sophomore Jordan Rhodes round out play for Baylor.
Four of the five Big 12 women's golf teams who were extended an NCAA Regional invitation will be headed to Tempe, Ariz., to compete in the NCAA West Regional. Oklahoma State is the lone Big 12 institution in the NCAA Central Regional in Columbus, Ohio.
