WACO, Texas - Run-scoring singles from Keith Prestridge and Ben Theriot snapped a 2-2 tie and propelled Texas State to a 5-3 victory over No. 7 Baylor in midweek action Tuesday night at Baylor Ballpark. Brooks Kimmey's two-out, two-run single in the bottom of the fourth tied the game at 2-2. However, Texas State was quick to respond. Bret Atwood reached on a one-out bunt single, stole second and moved to third on a wild pitch. After Paul Goldschmidt struck out, Prestridge singled up the middle to score Atwood. Prestridge, whose father Luke was the designated hitter on Baylor's College World Series teams in the late 1970s, then stole second and scored on Theriot's single to center.

Texas State scored a run in the top of the first when Atwood tripled past a diving Adam Hornung down the left-field line and later scored on Goldschmidt's RBI groundout. Tyler Sibley pushed the Bobcats' lead to 2-0 with a leadoff homer in the third.
Aaron Miller was hit by a pitch to open the fourth and moved to third when Hornung followed with a double. Two outs later, Kimmey singled through the left side to score Miller and Hornung.
Baylor starter Trent Blank allowed two runs on four hits and a walk with two strikeouts on a predetermined 3.0-inning start. Texas State starter Matt Steiner worked 4.0 innings and allowed two runs on three hits and two walks with six strikeouts.
No Baylor batter had more than one hit. Miller, who was 1-for-3 and was hit by a pitch, reached safely for the 38th consecutive game dating back to last season. Dustin Dickerson pushed his hitting streak to 11 games, tying his career long, with a fifth inning single.
Baylor returns to action Wednesday, hosting Prairie View A&M for a 6:30 p.m. CDT first pitch. Sophomore right-hander Jon Ringenberg (0-0, 7.43 ERA) is scheduled to start on the mound for the Bears. Prairie View A&M has not announced a starter.
