LAREDO, Texas - The Baylor men's golf team shot a second-round 6-under 282 to take a commanding six-stroke lead after two rounds at the Border Olympics Friday. The Bears, which shot a 9-over 297 in the opening round, finished at 3-over 579.
Louisville is in second at 9-over 585, followed by Arkansas (+11 587) and UT Arlington (+12 588). Notre Dame and Texas State are both tied at fifth overall at 16-over 592. The host Houston Cougars are 16th overall (+42 618).
Louisville's Adam Hadwin leads all golfers with a 6-under 138, including a 4-under 68 in the second round. UT Arlington's Bobby Massa is in second at 5-under 139, while Arkansas' Ethan Tracy is in third at 2-under 142.
Baylor senior Bill Allcorn and redshirt freshman Lorenzo Scotto are each tied for fifth overall at even-par 144. Allcorn carded a 1-under 71 in the second round, while Scotto rebounded from tough opening round with a 4-under 68. Freshman Joakim Mikkelsen is tied for 15th at 3-over 147, while sophomore Cody Paladino and freshman Morten Bergan are tied in 22nd overall at 4-over 148.
Individuals Austin Berkovsky and Peter Fallon are in 74th and 83rd place, respectively.
The final round of the Border Olympics will tee off Saturday at 8 a.m.
