WACO, Texas - The second place Baylor equestrian team will host fifth-ranked Oklahoma State on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Willis Family Equestrian Center.
"Oklahoma State is kind of our nemesis. We have a hard time beating them," head coach Ellen White said. "If we win it'll be a huge confidence booster for us and will make us a dominant force in the Big 12. We can absolutely win this thing, we just have to believe we can do it. Those girls can ride and if they come with their game faces on, then we have work to do."
The Lady Bears enter the competition coming off a 13-10 win over No. 4 Texas A&M, along with two other wins against No. 11 Delaware State and Southern Methodist. Baylor is 9-2 on the season.
Saturday's matchup will be the second time Baylor and Oklahoma State have met this season. The past duel was on Oct. 18 in Stillwater where the Cowgirls defeated the Lady Bears 15-9, winning both English and Western.
The Cowgirls improved to 5-2 on the season after their win over ninth-ranked Kansas State.
Competing for Baylor in Equitation on the Flat will be Shelby White, Cara Wilson, Heather Healy, Mary Smitson and Margaret Beaudoin. Lisa Goldman, Kara Fergusson, Nicole Brown and Healy will ride in Equitation over Fences. Goldman has captured five MVP honors this season.
In Western riding, representing Baylor in Horsemanship will be Allison Orosz, Lindsay Douglas, Nicole McCoy, Lindsey Tomko and Meghan Murphy. Reining riders will include Madelyn Mooney, Amber Mooney, Valtie Riddle, Katie Buss and Kim Marlowe.
