The Baylor Equestrian team (2-2) swept Equitation over Fences, but it was not enough, as the Bears fell at Kansas State (2-0) 10-9 on Saturday at Fox Creek Farm. Despite the loss, Baylor took home three of the four MVP's.
The Bears got off to a hot start, winning Fences, 5-0. Kara Fergusson took home MVP honors, scoring 82 points, while Heather Healy and Kendra Vicary both recorded and 81. Taylor Brown and Lisa Goldman each notched wins with scores of 75 and 77, respectively.
Baylor got two more points in Equitation on the Flat, as Heather Healy and Mary Smitson picked up wins for BU. Heather Healy's 86 won her MVP honors and gave the Bears a 7-3 lead through half of the events.
K-State closed the gap in Horsemanship, winning 3-1. Allison Orosz got a 72.5-72 win, while Lindsey Tomko earned a tie with a score of 73.5.
With a two point lead, Baylor registered just one point in Reining, giving KSU the 10-9 win. Amber Mooney picked up the lone win for Baylor, but a great showing by Katie Buss earned her MVP honors.
The Bears will next be in action on Oct. 31, when they travel to Texas A&M at 10:00 a.m.
