Men's Tennis Defeats Oklahoma State

Waco, Texas - The 14th-ranked Baylor Bears defeated 19th-ranked Oklahoma State 6-1 at the DeBois Tennis Complex at Stillwater Saturday afternoon. Baylor is currently on a six-match winning streak and is now 16-7 overall and 2-0 in conference, while Oklahoma State drops to 14-8 and 3-2.

Baylor took the doubles point and the early lead. The Bears set the pace early when doubles team Lars Poerschke and Attila Bucko defeated opponents Ivan Puchkarov and Dmytro Petrov 8-1 to clear the court first. Quickly following was team Dominik Mueller and Jordan Rux with their decisive victory over Anton Bobytskyi and Igor Sobolta 8-2.

In singles play, Baylor took swift victories on courts four and six, respectively. No. 101 Mueller triumphed over opponent Nathan Byrnes 6-1, 6-2, while Rux prevailed over Sobolta 6-3, 6-3. Poerschke, ranked 20th, came back from a first set loss to upset No. 8 Oleksandr Nedovyesov 6-7 (7), 6-3, 10-8. 10th-ranked Denes Lukacs clinched the match for the Bears with his triumph over No. 54 Puchkarov 6-2, 6-7, 10-6.

Baylor continues conference play Sunday, April 13, at 2 p.m. against Oklahoma in Norman.
