WACO, Texas - Baylor's men's tennis team is ranked No. 11 and Denes Lukacs, Lars Poerschke and David Galic are ranked among the top 100 nationally in the Feb. 20 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) poll.
After losing to Oklahoma State and North Carolina in the National Team Indoor Championships last week, the Bears, now 8-2 on the season, dropped from No. 4 to No. 11. The current ranking marks Baylor's lowest listing since it was No. 12 in the March 27, 2002 poll.
Lukacs, a sophomore and sporting a team-best 27-7 record, began the spring season ranked No. 10 but is listed in the new poll at No. 12, while Poerschke, a two-time All-American, checks in at No. 17 with a 12-2 mark at No. 1 singles. Galic, a junior, completes the Bears' singles listings, moving up to No. 57 after beginning the spring at No. 80.
