WACO, Texas (AP) - Quincy Acy scored 15 points and set a Big 12 record for consecutive field goals made in Baylor's 85-43 victory against Southern on Saturday.
Acy, a freshman, was 5-of-5 from the field to improve to 18-of-18 through three games. He broke the record of 17 set by Texas A&M's DeAndre Jordan last season, his only one with the Aggies.
A short hook shot with 3:57 left in the game gave Acy the record and put Baylor (3-0) ahead 74-36. The 3-footer was the longest so far for Acy. His other 17 field goals have been dunks or layups.
Jazz Williams led Southern (0-2) with seven points.
Kevin Rogers, Curtis Jerrells and Henry Dugat scored 13 apiece for the Bears. Dugat had six points in a 16-1 run that put Baylor up 27-9 midway through the first half.
Baylor concludes its four-game homestand Monday when it welcomes Atlantic Sun Conference preseason favorite Jacksonville to the Ferrell Center. Tip off is set for 7 p.m.
