WACO, Texas - The No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs overpowered the fourth-ranked Lady Bears 16-4. Georgia's riders swept MVP honors in all events and improved their record to 6-1.
"The three weeks off made us a bit on the cold side, so we kind of played a mulligan game," head coach Ellen White said. "Everybody had little mistakes and because we left little mistakes in there, Georgia was perfect. It would have been nice to beat them today, but we are absolutely ready for tomorrow."
The Bulldogs downed the Lady Bears 8-2 in Hunter Seat. With a tough 4-1 loss in Equitation over Fences, freshman Anna Banks posted the lone victory in fences with an 80-76 win over Michelle Morris. Georgia's Kacy Jenkins garnered MVP honors with her defeat over Nicole Brown 82-78.
Baylor continued to struggle as they lost 4-1 in Equitation on the Flat. Senior Shelby White had the single winning ride for the Lady Bears with her victory over Daisy Whelan 77-68. Amy Klebasadel from Georgia received MVP honors with her winning ride over Heather Healy 82-61.
In Western Horsemanship, Georgia defeated the Lady Bears in a close 3-2 battle. Junior Lindsey Tomko (73-70.5) and senior Nicole McCoy (72.5-71.5) tallied points for Baylor. Georgia's Katelyn Van Allen earned MVP honors with her win over Meghan Murphy 76.5-72.
Georgia ended the competition with a shutout in Reining (5-0). Sarah Locker of Georgia took the MVP spot with her win over Katie Buss 73-71.5.
