MIDLAND, Texas - Three Baylor women's tennis players continued in action on Friday night and Saturday at the Midland Invitational. Karolina Filipiak, Zuzana Chmelarova and Kasia Siwosz are in action at the tournament this weekend.
On Friday afternoon, Chmelarova lost to Irina-Alexandra Paraschiv of North Texas 6-2, 1-6, 10-4. Siwosz held on to defeat Shannon MacKenzie of North Texas in three sets by a 6-2, 5-7, 10-5 score. On Friday evening, Filipiak and Chmelarova combined for a doubles victory over Megan Pritchard and Vicky Michaud of UTEP 8-3.
In Saturday's early matches, Filipiak fell to Mary Weatherhold of Nebraska 2-6, 7-6, 10-8. Chmelarova lost her morning match to Ana Guzman of Rice 6-4, 6-1.
On Saturday afternoon, Siwosz retired against Jaclyn Walker of Abilene Christian 6-4, 2-1, while Chmelarova and Filipiak defeated Natalie Leitch and Stefanie Peana of Texas Tech 9-8 (6). Later in the evening, the pair lost to Madeleine Geibert and Wiveca Swarting of Nebraska 8-3.
