WACO, Texas - Baylor's No. 4 men's tennis team heads to Austin, Texas Wednesday, April 18 for a midweek match against No. 12 University of Texas at the Penick-Allison Tennis Center at 6 p.m. The Bears have a 19-3 overall record and 3-0 conference mark this season.
After defeating the Red Raiders in their third conference match of the season, the Bears enter Wednesday's match undefeated in conference play. Texas is currently 15-6 on the season, 3-1 in Big 12 action. The Bears and the Longhorns have matched up every year since 1970 with Texas leading the series 10-39. The Bears broke their 33 match losing streak with their first win against the Longhorns in 1998. In their last match up, the Longhorns upset the Bears 4-1 in the final match of the Big 12 Championship.
The Bears have four players ranked in the latest FILA/ITA Collegiate Rankings including No. 14 Lars Poerschke, No. 23 Michal Kokta and No. 102 Dominik Mueller. In doubles, Zgaga and David Galic earned honors at the No. 18 spot, boasting a 9-2 overall record, 3-0 in conference play.
No. 88 Dimitar Kutrovsky and No. 118 Milan Mihailovic of Texas earned honors in singles action for Texas, while the tandem of Dimitar Kutrovsky and Josh Zavala are ranked No. 28.
The Bears return home after playing three consecutive road matches to host their final two regular season matches before the Big 12 Championships. Baylor faces Oklahoma State Friday, April 20 at 6 p.m. and the University of Oklahoma Sunday, April 22 at 2:00 p.m.
