WACO, Texas - The No. 5 Baylor men's tennis team upset second-ranked Virginia, 6-1, Saturday at the Baylor Tennis Center.

Baylor started off with an early lead taking the doubles point with two wins over Virginia. Baylor's team of Matija Zgaga and David Galic upset Virginia's Somdev Devvarman and Treat Huey, ranked at the No. 3 spot, 8-3. No. 40 Dominic Inglot and Houston Barrick were the only pair to win for Virginia defeating Baylor's duo of Lars Poerschke and Denes Lukacs, 8-5. Dominik Mueller and Matt Brown defeated Lee Singer and Marko Miklo in a tie-breaker match 9-8 (1) to seal the doubles point for the Bears.

In singles action, Brown added another point for the Bears after defeating No. 80 Inglot 6-1, 6-4, on court three. Lukacs defeated Milko 6-4, 6-2 before Baylor's No. 101 Zgaga fell to No. 15 Treat Huey 6-7(3), 1-6. Mueller, ranked at the No. 87 spot, clenched the match for the Bears defeating Barrick in a second set tie-breaker 6-2, 7-6 (6). No. 31 Poerschke upset No. 2 Devvarman 6-3, 6-7(5), 10-5 to gain another win for the Bears while Attila Bucko downed Lee Singer in a third set tie-breaker 3-6, 6-3, 3-2(8).

The Bears now 12-2 on the season will return to action tomorrow night when they host No. 41 Georgia Tech at the Baylor Tennis Center at 6 p.m.

With the loss Virginia drops to 14-2 on the season.
