COLUMBUS, Ohio - After upsetting the nation's second-ranked player in the consolation quarterfinals of the prestigious 32-player ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships, sophomore Denes Lukacs lost in the semifinals to end his fall season. In other weekend action, sophomore Attila Bucko fell in the round of 16 of the Texas Invitational in Austin.
In ITA Intercollegiate Indoor action, Lukacs downed No. 2 Steven Moenke of Ohio State, 6-3, 7-5 but then lost in the semifinals to 65th-ranked Dominik Inglot of Virginia, 6-3, 6-4. Lukacs finishes fall play with an 18-4 record and was 11-4 versus ranked opponents, including top-10 victories over No. 2 Moenke, No. 7 Erling Tveit (Mississippi) and No. 9 Ryan Rowe of Illinois. All three of those wins were straight-set victories.
Bucko, who entered the singles draw of the Texas Invitational as the No. 4 seed, lost to Dmitry Novikov of Texas A&M-CC, 6-3, 4-6, 6-1.The loss halted Bucko's seven-match win streak.
