PRESTWICK, Scotland - Baylor golfer Ryan Baca (Richmond, Texas) defeated Europe's Mark Haastrup 3 and 2 in the afternoon singles matches, one of the few bright spots for the United States as the Palmer Cup began Thursday at Prestwick Golf Club.
The Europeans swept all four of the morning four-ball matches and claimed six of the eight singles matches to take a 10-2 lead heading into the final day.
The Palmer Cup is a Ryder Cup-style competition pitting the top young, non-professional golfers in the U.S. and Europe.
